A coffee for a net

A plague without remedy… A disease that kills millions every year.  No, it’s not COVID 19, it is the ancient malaria, the infamous sickness carried by mosquitoes.  During the 1800’s, doctors around the world thought this terrible fever was brought on when the mist was rising from the African rivers in the morning.  It was not until David Livingstone that we found the real cause of the disease: mosquitoes.  These horrible little pests are responsible for killing more people and children in the past 3000 years than any wars and pestilences put together.

David Livingstone was also the one who used for the first time the drug called quinine to help with the symptoms.  He experimented on himself and it worked quite well.  It doesn’t solve the problem, as the malaria lives in your liver for the rest of your life, but it does clean the blood stream from the disease.

Today, more than 200 million people a year suffer from malaria across Africa alone.  Mostly children under 5.  If you survive your first 5 years you most probably will not die of malaria.

Quinine is not easily available to all children in Africa and it has devastating side effects that could kill as well.  The simplest solution is to protect the children from the mosquito bites, which occur mostly from dawn to dusk.

So, we deliver mosquito nets.

We use untainted mosquito nets (some organizations use nets sprayed with insecticide) and we deliver them to the hardest hit areas of Africa affected by malaria.

A net costs 10 dollars and up to 5 children can sleep under it.  It is so effective that we discover that the rate of infection dropped by 80% in the villages where we delivered nets.

10 dollars.  The price of a fancy Starbucks coffee.  Can you go without one, for one day and help save 5 lives?  Imagine the impact: we can buy 100.000 nets a year, deliver them ourselves and save 500.000 children from dying.

Let’s start a campaign: 100.000 coffees for 500.000 children saved from malaria!!

Our Vision

Providing a platform for people who long to leave a durable legacy of good behind them.  A legacy of real results, with no strings attached, no hidden agenda and no search for self-gratification or vain glory. What we say we do, we are doing and we provide long term support for people and communities in real need.

We have little use for empty words and empty promises.

We love to under-promise and over-deliver.

Dream! Plan! Act!

A dream can only be successful when you put it into action!

Our Vision

1. To promote, support and develop the well-being of underprivileged, marginalized and remote children of the world, orphans primarily but not necessarily as a general rule.

2. To create the appropriate infrastructure for such projects, like water systems powered by solar technology, irrigation and agricultural systems to feed them, school buildings, sports facilities, skill development facilities, education sponsorship, medical help and humanitarian support.

3. To bring true care, true love and true commitment to these children by encouraging the local communities to get involved in raising these children in the local culture, language and circumstances, so they grow up to be confident and happy members of their own society.

4. To educate the adult community in protecting the children from abuse, exploitation and neglect, by implementing stimulating programs in the community to foster their well being as a whole.

5. To teach these children and youth the definition of the only true religion: “The purest religion is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” James 1:27. No other definition will be accepted in connection with our work with the orphans. This will keep all the other religious agendas at bay and the children will be given a fair opportunity to choose their destiny.
